Hands-on training at the perfSONAR MDM workshop
17 February 2012
Delegates from 13 different NRENs and institutions will be attending the inaugural hands-on perfSONAR MDM training workshop in Berlin next month, a fact that clearly demonstrates the growing momentum behind the advanced multi-domain monitoring tool.
By using perfSONAR MDM NREN engineers are able to monitor performance across multiple networks. The service provides standardised measurement data from monitoring points across multiple domains through a single screen, delivering a complete view of network activity and making it simple and faster to identify, prevent and solve performance issues.
Growing momentum
There are currently 13 European NRENs participating in the perfSONAR MDM pilot, with more than 40 monitoring points already deployed across the GÉANT Service Area (GSA).
To be held in Berlin on March 20-22, the workshop will enable network engineers to get completely up to speed on perfSONAR MDM, providing everything they need to get it running on their home network. It will cover the full process of installing and configuring a full perfSONAR MDM node, from download to active operation.
Deploy service at the workshop
Led by perfSONAR MDM experts, the training will use practical exercises to guide engineers in remotely deploying and configuring a perfSONAR node on a machine within their own infrastructure. So at the end of the three day event each participant will have created a fully functional perfSONAR MDM monitoring point inside their network, extending multi-domain monitoring across even more of the GÉANT Service Area and benefiting both engineers and end users.
Due to high demand, the Berlin workshop is currently full but the next session is already being planned for later this year. To register your interest in attending, please email the perfSONAR MDM team.
