Flexible IP and P2P Connectivity Options

Access to the GÉANT network provides the standard, high bandwidth IP connectivity (GÉANT IP). In addition, GÉANT offers the benefit of a “virtual” private network created by reserving capacity on the network backbone (GÉANT Plus or GÉANT Lambda). These specialised point-to-point connections provide dedicated bandwidth without the cost and difficulty of building and managing a private network.

In addition to the static services, there is Bandwidth on Demand, the world's first
 multi-domain service for automatic bandwidth provisioning. To establish there innovative services between domains, there are two useful tools that NRENs can use: cNIS and AutoBAHN.

GÉANT IP
The network’s standard connectivity service provides robust, high-bandwidth access to and across the shared European Internet Protocol (IP) infrastructure.
   
GÉANT Plus
Provides point-to-point connectivity across reserved, high-speed, guaranteed-bandwidth circuits on pre-provisioned infrastructure.
  
GÉANT Lambda
A bespoke service designed to cater for longer term, extremely data-intensive network connectivity requirements, providing a dedicated, full 10 Gbps wavelength.
   
GÉANT Bandwidth on Demand
A co-provisioned global multi-domain service that can automatically establish a circuit in minutes, delivering the bandwidth users need, when they need it.  
   
AutoBAHN
An advanced provisioning tool dedicated to the creation of dynamic circuits in muti domain environments.
   
cNIS
A set of software modules to collect, manage and share network topology data.
