GEANT Topology Map

GÉANT's network topology continues to be upgraded, in order to provide the best possible service to connected NRENs, and ultimately to Europe's research and education communities. The core backbone network in May 2004 consisted of 16 10Gbit/s links and 16 2.5Gbit/s links.

Global Connectivity October 2003 - thumbnailThe Global Connectivity Map shows interconnections between the GÉANT network and some of its counterpart research and education networks around the world. There are currently six connections to other world regions, five of which are to North America and one to Japan. A number of additional connections are planned to the NRENs in the Latin American and Mediterranean regions, and are shown on this map.
